Alberta PNP Program

The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP), now known as the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP), has been crafted to welcome individuals equipped with the skills and expertise that address the labor market gaps in Alberta. This provincial nominee program is a beacon for skilled workers, offering two key pathways: the Alberta Opportunity Pathway and the Express Entry system. Moreover, it oversees two business-focused immigration pathways, namely the Farmer Self-Employed and Overseas Graduate Entrepreneur Pathway.

A Collaborative Endeavor

The Alberta PNP operates in synergy with the Government of Alberta and the National Immigration Department, the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). Its mandate is to identify individuals who can contribute significantly to Alberta’s economic growth and development. If you aspire to migrate to Canada through the AINP, your journey typically unfolds in two stages:

Unlocking Opportunities, One Nomination at a Time

The AINP is granted a specific allocation of nominations by the IRCC annually, reinforcing its commitment to selecting candidates poised to thrive within Alberta’s dynamic environment. The program aligns skilled workers with Alberta’s needs, enriching the province’s workforce and fostering growth. Your journey with the AINP is more than a migration process; it’s an opportunity to become an integral part of Alberta’s success story.

What are the various AINP Immigration Pathways?

The Alberta Provincial Nominee Program (AINP) welcomes applications through a range of distinctive immigration pathways, each tailored to specific circumstances and aspirations. These four immigration pathways pave the way for individuals to explore their journey to Alberta.

However, there is a list of disqualified occupations that are excluded from consideration.

Language Proficiency Standards

Language proficiency plays a crucial role. For most NOC codes, you’re required to present language test results demonstrating at least a minimum of CLB – Canadian Language Benchmark Level 4 in all language skills in either French (NCLC – Niveaux de compétence Linguistique Canadiens) or English at the time of application submission.

Note: Applicants under the 3413 NOC Code – Patient Service Associates, Orderlies, and Nurse Aides must meet a higher language requirement of at least Level 7 CLB or NCLC for each linguistic skill in French or English.

Effective from January 1, 2020, candidates applying under NOC B, A, and 0 are subject to an increased language requirement of NCLC or CLB Level 5.

Step-by-Step Guide to Secure PR Visa through AINP's Entrepreneur Pathway

The Alberta Graduate Entrepreneur Pathway, an enigmatic road less traveled, beckons the intrepid souls who have ventured far from their homeland to pursue their education in the hallowed halls of Alberta’s post-secondary schools. These audacious individuals, yearning to manifest their entrepreneurial dreams, must possess a burning desire to forge their own path in the province.

To embark upon this extraordinary journey, candidates must first immerse themselves in the alchemical realm of business, diligently cultivating their ventures within the borders of Alberta for a minimum of one year while wielding the mighty Work Visa. Only then, after proving their mettle, shall the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) bestow upon them the coveted mantle of a Canada PR Visa, should they fulfill the enigmatic and labyrinthine criteria laid forth in the Agreement for Business Performance.

Step 1: Submission of Expression of Interest (EOI)

Candidates meeting the eligibility criteria begin by submitting an Expression of Interest (EOI). Within about a month of submission, EOIs are evaluated and scored. The highest-ranking candidates are invited to proceed to the next phase by submitting a Business Application.

Step 2: Submission of Business Application Package

Selected candidates from the EOI pool are required to provide a comprehensive Business Application within 3 months. This application comes with a non-refundable fee of $3,500, which needs to be paid.

Step 3: Business Application Assessment

The AINP reviews the submitted Business Application along with the accompanying documents. If the application meets the necessary criteria, candidates will receive a Business Performance Agreement (BPA) for signing. The BPA serves as a legal contract between the candidate and the province of Alberta. It should be signed and returned to the AINP within 14 days. Following the receipt of the signed BPA, candidates are issued a Letter of Approval for their Business Application.

Step 4: Establishment of Business in Alberta

Candidates who receive the Letter of Approval for Business Application are required to establish and actively manage their business within Alberta for a minimum of 1 year. This period should commence after the issuance of the Letter of Approval. Candidates must hold a minimum ownership stake of 34% in the business.

Step 5: Submission of Final Nomination Report

Upon fulfilling the conditions outlined in the Business Performance Agreement, candidates submit a concluding Nomination Report to the AINP. If the AINP approves this final report and determines that the conditions have been met, it will issue a Certificate of Nomination to IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada). Simultaneously, a nomination letter is sent to the candidate.

With the Certificate of Nomination, candidates become eligible to apply for a Canada PR Visa through IRCC.

Latest Alberta PNP Draws

Program (AINP) keeps a close eye on the profiles of candidates within the Canada Express Entry pool. This allows them to identify individuals who meet their specific criteria. Once these suitable candidates are identified, the AINP issues what are called “Notifications of Interest” (NOIs). These NOIs are formal invitations extended to candidates, encouraging them to apply for provincial nomination through the AINP Draws.

It’s important to note that the exact details of each draw, including the number of candidates invited and their specific profiles, are typically announced around one month after the draw itself has taken place. This provides transparency and ensures that those who have been invited are aware of the status of their application.

In essence, this process involves a careful review of candidate profiles, leading to the issuance of invitations to apply for provincial nomination. The AINP’s goal is to facilitate a smoother immigration journey for eligible individuals who align with Alberta’s specific immigration needs.
