The Canadian government does an Express Entry draw about every two weeks. A CRS cut-off score must be met by the applicant with the lowest ranking who receives an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence. An official electronic Application for Permanent Residence (eAPR) must be completed and submitted within 60 days of receiving an ITA.

Express Entry drawings typically take place on Wednesdays, at regular intervals of two weeks. The IRCC decides when, how often, and what CRS score qualifies for entry into these drawings. These decisions may change based on the Canadian economy, the labor market, and the immigration goals set forth in the Canada Immigration Level Plans for 2023–2025.

- The lowest CRS points cut-off score in all program draws is 481 and 691 in PNP-specific draws.
- The highest CRS points cut-off score in the overall program draw is 511 and 791 in the PNP-specific draw.
2022
- The lowest CRS points cut-off score in all program draws is 491 and 674 in PNP-specific draws.
- In the overall program draw, the highest CRS points cut-off score is 557, and in the PNP-specific draw, it is 808.
2021
- The cut-off score for CRS points is 75 (CEC).
- The highest CRS points cut-off score in the overall program draw is 462 and 813 in the PNP-specific draw.
2020
- The lowest CRS points cut-off score in all program draws is 431 and 415 (FST).
- The highest CRS points cut-off score in the overall program draw is 478, while the highest in the PNP-specific draw is 808.
Express Entry Round of Invitations
Potential applicants are ranked in the pool by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) using a points-based method known as the CRS score calculator. The IRCC – in an Express Entry invitation round does the following:

Throughout the year, IRCC conducts many rounds of invites.
General invitations rounds
The Federal Skilled Worker Programme, Federal Skilled Trades Programme, and Canadian Experience Class are the three programs overseen by Express Entry, and in general rounds of invitations, IRCC invites the top individuals in the pool who are qualified for each of those programs.
Invitation rounds tailored to the program
The highest-ranking applicants who are qualified for a particular Express Entry program connected to a Provincial Nominee Programme are invited in rounds of invitations relevant to that program.
Invitational rounds depending on categories
Canada’s Minister of Immigration, Sean Fraser, creates a category to achieve a particular economic objective for category-based Express Entry drawings. The top applicants in the pool who are qualified for the targeted category are then invited by IRCC.
A New Category-Based Draws For Express Entry
On May 31, Canada’s Immigration Minister, Sean Fraser, revealed that the IRCC (Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada) has finalized additional categories for choosing candidates in Express Entry lotteries. These categories were chosen after taking into account labor market forecasts and engaging with numerous partners, stakeholders, and provincial and territorial governments. The following categories are available for selection:
- French language ability
- Healthcare professions
- STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) jobs
- Occupations in the trades
